"I was asked to be a non-biased third party with the sole responsibility of organizing the placement of the wines, wrapping each bottle in laminate bags – with the necks taped tightly, open the bottles in a locked room – so no one could see the corks, printing up the wine sheet – which was given out after all the votes where collected, and then collecting all the votes. In other words, I was the ONLY person who knew which wine was which until all the voting was done. The pours where all volunteers from the Dionysian Society, International who were familiar with the Dionysian 20point score sheets everyone was given. We found a lot of partial score sheets so I decided to view the competition as two flights. The first being Chardonnay, and the second as Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Blends and only counted votes in which the person completed that flight. An example would be if Lisa only judged 3 of the Chardonnays but all of the reds – then I deleted all of her Chardonnay scores but still used her red scores."
